Specials Schedule for Students
Each student at Parkside has a schedule for their specials rotation. Specials include PE, Visual Arts, Performing Arts and Library. Students go to PE every other day and rotate through the other specials on the off days. In an effort to help you know when your student needs to wear PE appropriate shoes, or when your student needs to bring library books to school, we have included a link to the specials schedule. Each student is assigned a color group that corresponds to the schedule they need to follow. Ask your student what their color group is and follow that group for the year on the calendar.
|LISD Bus Route Information
Available Online Aug. 10
On Aug. 10, Leander ISD parents can enter their home address into Infofinder i, an online tool available on the LISD website, to look up their child’s bus number and pick-up/drop-off times and locations for the coming school year. In an effort to reduce expenses and ensure real-time accuracy, the district does not print and distribute bus route schedules prior to the start of school. Bus routes are subject to change, and so LISD parents are strongly encouraged to confirm their child’s bus information again the week prior to the start of school, Aug. 15-19. For transportation questions, please call 512-570-0700.
Each campus within Leander ISD has a Site-Based Planning Committee (SBPC). These committees are composed of district employees, community members, business representatives and parents. SBPC members provide input to the principal on a wide variety of subjects, with an aim of improving the achievement of all students. The committees address such areas as planning, curriculum, budgeting, staff development, staffing patterns and school organization. Elections for parent representatives are held every fall. Parents can only serve as a parent representative at the campus where they have a child attending school. If you would like to find out more information about the council, run for one of the parent seats or nominate someone for one of the seats, please call the campus your student attends no later than Friday, September 2.
|Pre-K & Kinder Registration
Families of children who will attend kindergarten in Leander ISD next fall, as well as families with children who qualify for the district’s free pre-kindergarten program, are encouraged to register their children for school ASAP. Parents may register their child at any elementary school in the district, even if they are zoned to attend another LISD campus.
Please bring the following items to registration:
a copy of the student's birth certificate
proof of residency (a recent water bill, utility bill, etc...)
the student's Social Security card
most recent report card and standardized test results

Fight the Bite: Protect Yourself Against Mosquitos
Mosquito season is right around the corner. Mosquito bites may cause illness. Many people who get a mosquito disease will not feel sick, but some cases can cause serious illness or death. Children, elderly and those with certain health conditions may be at a higher risk of getting sick if they become infected. Protect yourself, your family and our community from mosquitoes with the 3-Ds:Defend use an EPA-approved insect repellant; Dress dress in long sleeves and pants when outdoors, especially at dawn and dusk; Drain drain standing water around your home, so mosquitoes don¹t have a place to breed.
For more information about mosquito surveillance initiatives in Williamson County, contact WCCHD Environmental Health Services at 512-943-3620 or visit www.wcchd.org.
|Student Transfer Requests
for 2016-17 School Year
Due to projected enrollment size for the 2016-2017 school year, this campus has been closed to new transfers, except consideration will be given to siblings of students who currently attend and who will attend next year. Please be aware that if your student is not zoned to this campus or does not already attend this campus on an approved transfer, this campus is closed and will not be accepting any NEW transfer requests for the following school year, 2016-2017.
Children who currently attend the campus as a 4th-grader, either as a zoned student or as a transfer student, will be permitted to attend the current campus as a 5th-grade transfer in the next school year, and siblings will be permitted to transfer in on a space- and staff-available basis.
All requests to transfer/remain as a transfer must be submitted by the priority deadline date (March 20, 2016) each year in order to be considered, INCLUDING this year's 4th-graders.
Transfer applications from existing transfer students who are not in the 4th-grade will be considered after the priority transfer deadline date, and after available space and staffing have been determined. Parents/guardians will be notified of approval/denial of the transfer request no later than April 20, 2016. Except for approved current-year 4th-graders, there are NO guarantees that children who transfer in to a campus will be able to continue at that campus.
Please note that a non-refundable $30 processing fee was implemented beginning Sept. 1, 2011, for any student requesting a transfer, and this fee does not guarantee approval to the requested campus. When the student transfer submission window opens Feb. 15, 2016, please proceed to Leander ISD’s district website should you wish to submit a transfer request for your child. If you do not have access to a computer, please feel free to stop by the campus and use one of the campus computers. Should you need assistance with the transfer application, schedule a meeting with the registrar at the campus you would like your student to attend, so that s/he may assist you in completing this application.
Please bring the registration forms and copies of the following documents with you when you register your child:
· legal paperwork (divorce decrees, etc.)
- a copy of the student's birth certificate
- proof of residency (lease/contract, current utility bill)
- the student's Social Security card
- immunization record or affidavit of conscience exemption
- most recent report card and standardized test results
- withdrawal papers from your child's previous school
- a photo identification of parent/guardian

The district’s online tool, txConnect, allows LISD parents to easily monitor their child’s achievement throughout the school year. LISD parents can use txConnect to access their child’s grades and assignments, view and print their child’s interim progress reports and report cards, view their child’s STAAR (or TAKS) results, immunizations, attendance and student discipline reports. And beginning this year, parents can use txConnect to view, update and print first-day packet forms. Connecting to your child’s learning through txConnect is a simple, two-step process.
